Healing, Prayer, & Preaching...

Ask yourself, have you ever healed, prayed, and preached? Certainly we don’t have the healing powers that of Jesus, but He has given us power to heal, pray, and preach. For this is what WE are put on this earth to do.

You see healing comes in many forms, physically, emotionally, spiritually, etc. and God has given us gifts to do that. We see how doctors can heal, have you ever comforted a person? That in itself is healing. We need to look at our families, community, the world through the heart of Jesus. We are given many gifts and Jesus shows us how to use them.

Learn to recognize how you can heal. Prayer is often a catalyst to healing. We pray for many reasons, and a lot of them are for healing. We pray for strength, for getting over a sickness, for someone who is in need, for someone who has lost a loved one. Jesus teaches us that prayer is a conversation with Him. He hears your heart, He listens and heals, only if your heart is open.

When you comfort and pray, you are preaching. People learn by example, what better way but to live like Jesus. If you live like Jesus, then people see this and learn by example. I am sure you have heard this great quote, very Franciscan in its spirit, but not literally, from St. Francis. The thought is his; “Preach the Gospel at all times, use words if necessary.” When you comfort, when you pray, you are an example for all.

Today hear the voice of the Holy Spirit in your heart, and use Jesus’ words to heal, pray, and preach every day of your life. Live the example Jesus teaches us every day.

Blessing,

Deacon Mike
