In today’s world, it can feel as though faith is something to be kept private—something personal that should not interfere with our daily lives. But Jesus calls us to something greater. In Matthew 5:14-16, He tells us, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Our faith is not meant to be tucked away but lived out boldly, with love and conviction.
Being Catholic in a secular world can be challenging. We may face criticism, misunderstanding, or even rejection when we stand for truth. Yet, Christ did not promise us comfort; He promised the Cross. True discipleship means embracing our faith in all aspects of life—at work, in our communities, and within our families.
However, our witness must not be one of mere words but of love. The world is not changed by arguments alone, but by lives transformed in Christ. When we live with integrity, kindness, and joy, we become beacons of light that draw others to God. The Eucharist strengthens us for this mission, reminding us that we do not walk alone. Christ is with us, sustaining us and giving us the grace to shine in the darkness.
This week, let us ask ourselves: Are we living as lights for the world? Are we bold in our faith, yet humble in our love? May we embrace our calling as disciples, bringing Christ’s presence to a world that desperately needs Him.
Blessings,
Deacon Mike
